SR Judo Club took several players to a grading in Leicester this weekend and walked away from the event with everyone who competed being promoted to a higher grade.
In the primary category (under 10s) and taking part in their first ever grading, Benedict Wheeldon, Theo Painter, Millie Shaw, Bethany Fitzpatrick, Elsie Freakley and Kyle Morton all gained two red tabs, also competing for their first grades were Lyla painter and Noah Chamberlain who were promoted to three red tabs. Elsewhere in the primaries, Alfie Freakley gained one orange tab and Riley Russell and Ricco Crowie-Mcgrath both took three orange tabs. Fabian Crowie McGrath come away with three green tabs and Eliza Seditas walked away with three blue.
Onto the Junior category, Almirah Edwards, Curtis Thompson and Ben Shaw all graded for the first time since moving up to juniors and all three were rewarded with three yellow tabs. Jack Cross, Sam Duro and Gabe Spence were promoted to their full yellow belt, whereas Jack McGuire, Poppy Murphy and Ruby Gimson all achieved their full orange belt.
Xander Jones was promoted to his full green belt, Zac Obi Jones gained his green belt with one brown tab and Ben Edwards gained his junior brown (green belt with three brown tabs).
Finally in the seniors, two players made a return to the judo mat after many years absent; Dave Jeffery was promoted to his 3rd kyu (green belt) and Mark Shaw received a 2nd kyu (blue belt).
